TWO RARE FIGURAL PENCIL SHARPENERS FROM ALICE IN WONDERLAND.

Each stands 2.25” tall. Both are die-cut and beautifully colored celluloid figures which have mounted on the back metal sharpeners arranged so that each piece will stand upright. Backs are marked “Foreign.” These likely date from 1937 around the time of the Paramount movie release of the Hollywood star-studded version of the story. Text on front reads “The Dormouse” and “The Knave Of Hearts.” On the Knave there is a tiny bit of faint red color for his eyebrows, eye and mouth, but very pale. All other coloration on the pieces remains strong. On the reverses, sharpening blades have brown oxidation but no other damage to the mechanism. Beautiful and Rare. Pair.
